Wetland Hike with Center for Wildlife & Mt. Agamenticus

The Mount Agamenticus region has the highest concentration of vernal pools in the state and is home to three threatened and endangered species. Join Mt. A staff and Center for Wildlife educators and live turtle ambassador animals to learn about seasonal life cycles, critical habitats and the differences between facultative and obligate species.

This program will start at Center for Wildlife and we will then connect to the Mount Agamenticus trail system for a hike to explore vernal pools, ephemera streams and wetlands. We will access the Mt. A trails via Porcupine Trail, rated moderate difficulty. Please wear appropriate footwear (it is mud season here in Southern Maine!) Dependent upon group size, we will split the group to conduct both "easy" and "moderate" hikes and explore vernal pools in our area.

This program is open to all ages and pre-registration is required.
